Under 5’s – Explore Discover and Learn -Thursday afternoons 1pm - 2.30pm
Explore the wonderful setting, look up, look down, what will you see, smell, touch, hear?
Discover the natural environment. Pick up sticks, make dens, feel and collect the leaves, play. We use our own private woodlands in Hermitage, Berkshire for our wild wood days.
Learn about making relationships with others, playing with your friends. Learn to listen to the sounds around you and the vocabulary of others. Learn to use talk to clarify your thinking, ask questions and to chat to others. Learn to experiment with negotiating objects, climbing over and under branches and trees. Have an understanding and awareness about the world around you, make observations, look at patterns and change.
Our Under 5’s, Explore Discover and Learn session is designed for young children to come and play, to enjoy the natural environment, to learn and play simultaneously, a hands-on session.
Julia Donaldson, author of the Gruffalo, The Stickman and many other great stories was interviewed in the Christmas 2019 edition of the Radio Times, she said:
‘It’s important that children learn about nature and touch things, see flowers and wasps. People tell them to love the planet, but if you don’t actually know what the planet is, and love the things about it, why would you? You need to get dirty!’
Join us, to get muddy, pick up sticks, collect leaves, climb on logs and trees and explore our natural environment.
Dress for the weather, lots of layers is essential and waterproof shoes or boots are a must in the wood.
Please bring a bottle of water. A snack will be available at the end of the session during story and rhyme time. If you do have any allergies please bring along/supply your own snack.
The woodland entrance is between:
